I was silent most of this weekend, and how much I’ve needed that! The past week I found myself running around, hardly having any time for my art, I even had to skip 2 morning yoga sessions and moved around feeling this general sluggishness, really low on energy and not much motivation. Only after speaking to my dear friend I heard of the Solar Storms which where happening between March 16th-26th, and then I got it!
These solar flares cause anxiety, fatigue, and powerful energy shifts, as the cosmic energy intensifies we as humans are also effected as we have electromagnetic fields running through our body and surrounding us as auras. And gosh, did I feel this one! If I’d only known about it before I might have perceived this whole experience differently.
did you feel the same?
During these times in life where we are caught up with tasks, piles of things to do and feel that our intimate moments with ourselves are scarce, it’s a sign saying: Stop. Slow down and Feel.
What I actually did in order to help me was the following:
Meditation: sitting or walking meditation was very helpful, bringing into awareness reoccurring thoughts and feelings.
Nature: I tried to spend as much time in nature and even if I was home I gazed often at the sky and trees outside my window, sat in the garden, and connected to the sweet song of the birds.
Letting go and breathing: pausing as much as possible and took deep belly breaths, letting go of anything I am holding on to or resisting.
Softness: Each morning and evening I practiced loving-kindness meditation towards myself and others, and tried to be soft throughout the day (in other words, I wasn’t being hard on myself for not having the energy to do much)
Silence: I sat in silence as much as possible, no phone, internet or external stimulations (I did that mostly during this weekend)
And you know how wonderful this made me feel? I realized that all I really needed was this short weekend to ground, come back to myself and feel, which enabled me to engage with the world and people around me in a more integrated, authentic way.
I know what you're thinking…we don’t always have the privilege of having the whole weekend to ourselves, and you know what, you are absolutely right! We don’t need to arrive to a state where we are exhausted and feel warn out and need a whole weekend to decompress...
Wouldn’t it be better if we do these short mindfulness practices every once in a while, as general maintenance? Keeping us connected to ourselves; to our emotions, spirit, soul and body at all times?
This is why trying out some of these practices whenever you can, will really make a difference in your life. How about practicing a loving-kindness meditation before you go to sleep? Noticing 5 things you are grateful for every day? A short 10-minute yoga practice to start your day? Just doing a couple of poses can open up your energy field and prepare you for the day. There are endless options for living a mindful life, all we need to do is start with one.
